Live Recording of Dana +20 Side Event Advocating for the Visibility, Rights, and Self-Determination of Mobile Indigenous Peoples: The Dana +20 Manifesto

Updated: May 6

The Dana+20 Manifesto of Mobile Peoples (2022) was disseminated through a side event to support the UN Special Rapporteur's report on the situation of Mobile Indigenous Peoples. The event identified initiatives to recognize and respect the rights of Mobile Peoples, including existing UN mechanisms and ILO instruments, and identified gaps in these mechanisms. The stakeholders discussed ways to support the rights of Mobile Peoples and affirm their self-determination. The event was a critical step towards ensuring that the rights of Mobile Peoples are upheld and set the stage for future initiatives to improve their situation (UN).

Dana Declaration

The Dana Declaration is an attempt to forge a new partnership between conservationists and mobile peoples in order to ensure future conservation policies help maintain the earth's ecosystems, species and genetic diversity while respecting the rights of indigenous and traditional communities which have been disregarded in the past.
